Shakespeare at CU is looking for artists to participate in their Shakespeare Salon on Thursday, Aug. 11, 5-7 p.m. at the CU Art Museum. The Salon is happening as part of the First Folio’s visit to Boulder in August.
Honoring the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, Shakespeare at CU consists of more than 40 programs and exhibitions throughout 2016. The program will continue through the exhibition First Folio! The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare, on tour from the Folger Shakespeare Library, at the CU Art Museum August 9-31.
The Shakespeare Salon is the opportunity for an artistic response to the Folio’s presence. Held on a small stage within the exhibition itself, in the same room as the Folio, this cabaret-like event will be rich with performances inspired by and taken directly from Shakespeare’s works. The evening will end with a contemporary sonnet reading curated by Anne Waldman.
If you are interested in participating, please submit a 1-page abstract of your contribution, including medium, needs for performance, estimated run time, and description. Please also include a resume with current contact information. All submissions should be sent to firstfolio@colorado.edu by July 11.
If you have any questions, please contact Hadley at firstfolio@colorado.edu. For more information on Shakespeare at CU and the Folio exhibition, please visit http://www.colorado.edu/shakespeareatcu.
